5.2 Account security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at info@protoboarddesigner.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
5.3 One person per account
Accounts are for individual use only. You may not share your account credentials with others or create accounts on behalf of another person without their authorization.
5.4 Account deletion
You may delete your account at any time through the App settings. On deletion, an automated function immediately and permanently purges all your server-side data (projects, files, custom footprints, and account records). 6.1 Free plan
A free tier of the Services is available with no payment required, subject to any applicable feature limits as described in the App.
6.2 Subscription plans
Certain premium features require a paid Subscription. Subscription plans, pricing, billing frequency, and included features are described in the App. Pricing may vary by region and platform.
6.3 Billing and payment
For mobile apps (Android / iOS): Subscriptions are purchased and managed through Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS). Payments are processed by Google or Apple under their respective terms of service. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
For web: Where web-based purchases are available, applicable payment processing terms will be presented at the time of purchase.
6.4 Renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date. To cancel, use the subscription management features of the relevant platform (Google Play / App Store). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access to premium features until then.
6.5 Refunds
Refund eligibility is determined by the platform through which you purchased the Subscription (Google Play or Apple App Store). We do not process refunds directly. EU consumers may also have statutory rights under applicable consumer protection law (see Section 14).
6.6 Price changes
We may change Subscription prices. We will give reasonable advance notice of price changes through the App or by email. Continued use of a Subscription after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.
7. User Content
7.1 You own your designs
You retain full ownership of all User Content you create using the Services. We do not claim any ownership of your PCB designs, project files, or other content.
7.2 License to us
By storing User Content through the Services (e.g., using cloud sync), you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, transmit, back up, and display your User Content solely as necessary to provide and improve the Services. We do not use your designs for any other purpose.
7.3 Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for your User Content. You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to all User Content you upload, and that your User Content does not violate the rights of any third party (including intellectual property rights) or any applicable law.
7.4 Backup
Although we take reasonable steps to protect User Content, you should maintain your own backups of important designs. We are not responsible for loss of User Content due to circumstances outside our reasonable control.
8. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree not to use the Services to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation.
- Infringe or misappropriate the intellectual property or other rights of any third party.
- Upload, transmit, or distribute malicious code, viruses, or any content intended to harm systems or users.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Services, other users' accounts, or our infrastructure.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except where permitted by applicable law.
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, etc.) to access or interact with the Services in ways not authorized by us.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity, performance, or availability of the Services.
- Use the Services to provide competing services or products without our prior written consent.
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate this policy (see Section 13).
9. Our Intellectual Property
The App, its source code, design, graphics, user interface, brand, trademarks, and all content provided by us (excluding User Content) are owned by or licensed to Protoboard Designer Kft. and are protected by intellectual property laws.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your personal, non-commercial use, or for your own prototyping and design work.
Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership of our intellectual property to you.
10. Third-Party Services
The Services integrate with or rely on third-party services including:
- Google Firebase (analytics and crash reporting) — governed by Google's terms.
- Appwrite (backend: authentication, database, storage) — governed by Appwrite's terms.
- Google Sign-In / Google OAuth — governed by Google's terms of service.
- Google Play / Apple App Store — for app distribution and subscription billing.
- GitHub (
raw.githubusercontent.com) — used to fetch public footprint library catalogs; governed by GitHub's terms.
We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of third-party services. Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.
10.1 Third-party footprint libraries
The App allows you to use component footprints from external sources, including:
- Official KiCad footprint libraries — distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC-BY-SA 4.0) license with the KiCad Library Exception (KLE). The KLE specifically permits you to use the footprints in your own PCB designs and export those designs (including Gerber and PDF files) without requiring your design files to be licensed under CC-BY-SA. Using KiCad's official footprints in your board does not affect your ownership of, or the license you choose for, your own design.
- Custom GitHub repositories — the App allows you to add any public GitHub repository as a footprint source. Those libraries may carry their own license terms (e.g., MIT, CC-BY, proprietary, or no license at all).
Your responsibility: You are solely responsible for reviewing and complying with the license terms of any footprint library you import or use. We make no representation that footprints obtained from external sources are correctly licensed, error-free, or suitable for any particular use.
We do not host or redistribute KiCad footprint library files; the App fetches them directly from their public sources (e.g., GitHub) at the time of use.
11. PCB Output Disclaimer
The App is a design tool. Exported files (Gerber, PDF, etc.) represent a design intent and are provided as-is for informational and prototyping purposes.
- We do not warrant that any PCB manufactured from files exported by the App will function as intended, comply with any safety or regulatory requirements, or be fit for any particular purpose.
- PCB fabrication, assembly, and use involve independent technical, safety, and regulatory considerations that are entirely the responsibility of the user.
- We are not liable for the outcome of any manufacturing, assembly, or use of PCBs produced from files generated with the App.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
- the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times;
- any defects or errors will be corrected;
- data stored through the Services will not be lost; or
- the Services or servers are free from viruses or other harmful components.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties; if you are a consumer in such a jurisdiction, some exclusions may not apply to you.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Company and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors shall not be liable for:
- any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages;
- loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunities; or
- damages arising from PCB fabrication, manufacturing defects, or use of exported files.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services shall not exceed the greater of: (a) EUR 50 or (b) the total amount paid by you to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for: (i) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (ii) fraud or willful misconduct; or (iii) any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
14. Consumer Rights (EU / Hungary)
14.1 Statutory rights
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under applicable EU or Hungarian law, including the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) as implemented in Hungarian law (Government Decree 45/2014 (II. 26.)).
14.2 Right of withdrawal for digital services
Under EU consumer law, you generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal from a contract for digital services. However, by starting to use the Services before the 14-day period expires (which is typical when you download and use the App), you may waive this right to the extent permitted by law and the policies of the distribution platform (Google Play / Apple App Store). Platform refund and cancellation policies apply to Subscriptions purchased through those platforms.
If you believe you have a valid withdrawal claim not covered by the platform, contact us at info@protoboarddesigner.com.
14.3 Online Dispute Resolution (ODR)
The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform for consumer disputes at:
https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/
We are not currently obligated to participate in alternative dispute resolution, but we are always willing to work toward a reasonable resolution. Contact us at info@protoboarddesigner.com before initiating any proceedings.
14.4 Hungarian consumer protection
For consumer complaints or information in Hungary, you may also contact the competent Government Office Consumer Protection Department or the Conciliation Boards (Békéltető Testület) of the relevant jurisdiction.
15. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Company and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Services; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights.
16. Termination and Suspension
16.1 By you
You may stop using the Services at any time and delete your account through the App.
16.2 By us
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services (in whole or in part) if:
- you violate these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy;
- your use of the Services creates legal risk or liability for us;
- continued provision of the Services is not technically or commercially viable; or
- we discontinue the Services (with reasonable advance notice).
In case of material breach, we may terminate immediately. Otherwise, we will give reasonable notice where required by applicable law.
16.3 Effect of termination
On termination, your right to access the Services ceases. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 7.1, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 17) continue to apply.
17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Hungary, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.
For disputes between the Company and non-consumer users, the exclusive jurisdiction is the competent court of Budapest, Hungary.
For disputes involving consumers, the mandatory consumer protection laws of the consumer's country of residence (within the EU) may also apply, and consumers may bring proceedings in the courts of their country of residence.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by:
- updating the "Last updated" date above;
- posting a notice in the App; and/or
- sending an email notification (if you have an account and an email address on file).
Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not accept the new Terms, stop using the Services and delete your account.
19. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms presented within the Services, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Company regarding the Services.
- Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
- Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

- Language: These Terms are written in English. In case of any discrepancy between an English version and a translated version, the English version prevails.
